Square cast iron drain grate with the words J Davy and Co. (Elsecar) Ltd along the bottom of the frame.
Very excited to spot an Elsecar Davy #draincover in Pontefract today. Love it when an old job and a new job connect in unexpected ways โค๏ธ

Lichfield's old schoolmaster's house to be used as history hub - BBC News
Lichfield District Council says the building had never been previously open to the public.
Very excited to reveal that we have taken on large parts of The Old Grammar School here in Lichfield.
The site dates back to the 15th century. We plan to transform its extraordinary spaces into a community heritage hub & a place to celebrate all our cityโs history.

Spotted earlier, a huge Tudor Rose crafted & installed into Lichfield Cathedral 500 or so years ago.
From welcoming Henryโs army en route to Bosworth in 1485, to becoming a city in 1553 (Maryโs first year as Queen), Lichfieldโs history in the first decades of the Tudor Age is extraordinaryโฆ

By end 1916, two of them, Robert Gilson and Geoffrey Smith, had been killed on The Somme.
Their signatures were recently found in the visitors book at the Samuel Johnson Museum.
They had signed as members of the TCBS - the schoolboy society they had created with Tolkien & Christopher Wiseman.

In late September 1915, Tolkien met three school friends at The George Hotel here in nearby Lichfield.
โThe Council of Lichfieldโ was the last meeting of their TCBS (Tea Club Barrovian Society) before the friends left England to fight in the war.

Itโs long been suggested locally that JRR Tolkienโs tree-like warriors, the Ents, may have been inspired in part by this ancient oak at Cannock Chase, where he was based during the First World War.
Itโs extraordinary to see in person and well worth findingโฆ

Black and white scanned image from Boxing World in 1908. It's not the best quality. It shows a man in his late 30s facing away from the camera, puffing out his check and flexing his impressive back muscles. Underneath it says J.W.Price The Clever Burnley Lightweight Wrestler
Sepia image of the same man standing, face toward the camera, he is wearing nothing except dark socks and a small pair of dark briefs. He has short cropped hair, a moustache, and is flexing both his arm muscles.
This is J.W. A compact beefcake. Coalminer and later steward of Trafalgar Working Menโs Club, Burnley. Fathered 15 kids, did some great wrestling, esp. around 1908.
Loved writing his story.
