i decided to stick with rigid mailers for now since i want them to ship flat... i will be packing them with hope and care lmao. my plan is to pack them by next weekend and get tracking for everyone by next monday (aug 18) :3

follow up to this, i am also big fan of exploring "what if love COULD really change someone / what if that person still never feels absolved and never reaches enlightenment" my favorite flavor with makoh'to and gaius tbqh

Once again I am thinking about Gaius having the idea to break the cycle, as it were, with all his adopted wards (YES, I include Livia and Cid along with the Werlyt auri) - but he is woefully unequipped to emotionally guide or provide any sort of care to anybody. To me he is a shell of what he wishes he had when he was younger... man is nearing his 60s with father issues. He can hardly look within himself, much less emotionally provide for others. Road to hell paved with good intentions blah blah blah This is under the assumption Gaius himself was subjected to a multitude of terrible childhood pain. But it's also complex in that, in my lore, he truly believes the state (Garlemald) raised him right, so of course he wants to afford others this 'gift' no matter where they are from... I won't even get into the complexities I think he deals with re: model minority myth but I do rotate the concept in my head often when it comes to how Gaius views others outside of the Garlean race. Do I even need to say he is wrong? I will say it in big letters he is EXTREMELY WRONG AND MISGUIDED but he does not have the perspective to see this or innately feel what he did was wrong even with the events of SoW imo. I ignore a lot of how the narrative frames it since it was a rush job at best (talk about tone deaf...) Easy to parallel to real life in that I think someone like Gaius raised in a deeeep propaganda state doesn't question himself like "are we the baddies?" he just gets 'confirmation', no, Garlemald is right and leans full force into it. He'd believe himself kind for extending the privilege of living under the Garlemald standard than perishing in resistance. He probably finds himself generous for the offer he makes the WoL in Prae, because why waste that strength? He doesn't care to whom that strength belongs, just that it *could* be used for Garlemald... terrible guy. Love thinking about him SO much.
