Charlie Kirk appealed to the worst of us. To the worst in us.

He spoke about his prejudices openly, and it was not simply to test the limits of free speech.

He carefully targeted our impressionable youth, feeding on their fears and anxieties.

To deny one’s hate is to deny one’s true nature, was the insidious theme to many of his rants.

You don’t have to scream fire in a crowded theater.

Whispering it can have the same effect.

That’s why it’s important we don’t let them canonize him.
