Having my newfangled studio setup (no console, all sources go into the computer) means it's super easy to capture what I'm working on, and if I get stuck I can recall it later. With my previous workflow it would have been a total pain in the ass. Still want a console someday again though (cough SSL)

When I owned a music store, I used to love going to the NAMM Show every year. I even got my first bout of COVID there! Seriously though it was so fun to meet new people and see long time friends all the while being excited about new music instruments and gear. Lil' fomo here tbh

I wish I could interview Alan Wilder to ask him how the heck he achieved some of his production sounds. I feel like I have a pretty good ear and technique, but there are some sounds from his repertoire of production I still am like how TF did you do that

Having lived in Seattle for ages, I just now stumbled upon the 2005 Almost Live reunion show, a locally produced comedy modeled on SNL but cancelled in 1999. The local jokes are so heartwarming to me, and it's a shame we don't have local programming like this anymore

Growing up in Texas, of course I love Tex-Mex. When I moved to Seattle, finding good Tex-Mex was a joke. Now there are some pretty good places. Whether I'm at home in Seattle or visiting Texas like I did for Christmas, I've landed on ordering fajitas pretty much every time. Esp with chile con queso!

I started a major revamp in my studio & workflow in 2023. I sold my old digital mixer and planned for a new analog console. Those plans are on hold ($), so now I'm mixing entirely in the box. It's pretty great tbh, I have everything connected in my studio and a great DAW template. New music in 2026!

Growing up in Texas, one Christmas tradition I miss is tamales. They're labor intensive to make, but man are they good. I suppose I could make a new tradition of importing some to Washington...

Just because someone is famous or an expert in one field doesn't mean we should care anything about what they have to say with feigned expertise in other fields. Like, during the pandemic people were listening to football players on whether or not to take a vaccine. Uhmmm

Was just listening to my new record in Apple Music, and the last song on the record started... speeding up. A lot. And then it mixed the end of the record with the lead up to the first song's chorus. Truly jarring. Turned "Automix" off, whew

I like to look good/presentable while traveling, but having Sean Duffy lecture the populace on decency while it's hard to stuff my frame into any coach seat after post-911 security screenings got me into this line of thinking too. That doesn't mean I think shoes should ever come off on an airplane 🙃

After selling my console, I started a studio revamp to mix in the box. I'm surprised at how much I like it despite the tactile control loss (I don't have a mix controller). I am finally getting my outboard hooked up, and it's pretty magical. Planning for another console someday but this ain't bad

Discovered my Grandmother's seafood gumbo recipe in my files, which I thought had been lost. It's one of the most memorable dishes for me she ever made, and many loved it. Now I get to try my hand at it! In Galveston we would go out and catch fresh Gulf blue crab and buy live shrimp from the marina
