Hyde Park is a town in Dutchess County, New York, bordering the Hudson River north of Poughkeepsie. Within the town are the hamlets of Hyde Park, East Park, Staatsburg, and Haviland. Hyde Park is known as the hometown of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States.

FDR became President in 1933 and immediately got to work. He closed banks ( since so many had failed). When he reopened them after they got their books in order, the $ was guaranteed by the US Treasury. He also made many work programs.

Franklin D Roosevelt was elected Governor of NY twice. The Depression hit in his second term

Franklin D Roosevelt became a NY Senator and also contracted polio. He was afraid people would not elect a polio victim as President. He worked hard to walk with a cane and lean on people so that it wasn't obvious that he couldn't walk

Franklin D Roosevelt was named Secretary of the Navy under his uncle Teddy, who was President in 1917

Franklin D Roosevelt dated his distant cousin when he was at Harvard. He married Eleanor
