Through the examples of the European Citizens' Panels and the Habermas Machine, we argue that AI technosolutionism moves the discussion away from the systemic desirability of minipublics, sidelines a mass politics conception of democracy, and leaves unquestioned the political economy of AI. (3/3)

The paper explores how the field of deliberative democracy has been particularly eager to propose deliberation as a space for a socially beneficial application of AI, sometimes falling into a technosolutionist approach aiming to integrate tech to “solve” some of the “problems” of democracy. (2/3)
