This is no surprise.

So obvious.
Me, with my 12th grade education could have written this.. albeit with a few minor spelling errors.

Purposefully executed by Miller.

Nice shot Paul.
The first time I saw her picture I thought of Grace Kelly.
Both eloquent.
I share your concerns about journalism and renumeration.
I donβt know the answer.
Democracy is dependent on Journalists. A bedrock principle of mine.
Instead of giving to Childrenβs Hospital, The Humane Society, my Trust includes a financial contribution to help sustain the community newspaper.
Yes I understand that is how journalists get paid and I believe that paywall model is flawed.
Itβs NOTβ¦Freedom of speech, freedom of the pressβ¦ only if you can afford the subscription.
These mostly 2 bit paywall publications have very low circulation and only cater to like minded people.
They need to be paid yes and democracy depends on them.
Iβm hoping these paywall times are just a transitional phase to something that will be much better and impactful for journalists and consumers of content.
The oligarchy owning 75% of the media certainly makes things difficult..And sickening
Iβm not sure.
Iβm guessing they were paid by their employer, The Post and CBS ??
Did you know that recipes are not copyrighted? I didnβt.
Did you know that your high school senior picture is copyrighted and you are required by law to get the permission of the studio before copying them? I didnβt know that either.
I will be checking tomorrow.

Good advice.
So these paywalls create a kind of an incestual way of singing
to their own choir. They move no needles, change no minds.
Imagine if Cronkite or Murrow, or Woodward hid behind paywalls.
Investigative Journalism is vital to democracy. I donβt think the pay to play option works.
These content providers like the Bulwark have a paywall.
EVERY subscriber to the Bulwark is an Anti-Trumper who reads articles authored by the ex Republican writers like Bill Kristol. These writers change no minds, MAGA doesnβt subscribe. Trumpers donβt subscribe.
Journalists serve the greater good in many ways.
But I find it odd at a time when the country is being torn apart politically, so many good journalists hide behind a paywall.. self serving in a way, instead of putting their impactful writings out there for all to see.
Apologies if I came across as though I was patronizing you.
That was certainly not my intent.
I havenβt called you a snot or entitled child or dense either.. just saying.
I believe Iβve kept my posts respectful.
We obviously disagree on this paywall issue and thatβs ok.
I donβt steal anything online.

And BTW, itβs already happening.
Most articles are available online through back channels and sharing sites.
Iβm not that enthusiastic and ambitious to go through all that rigamarole. .
Good stuff Suzette.
I just inquired and found out that the local Community College offers library access for seniors.
Iβm not there yet but.. itβs coming.
My library offers a nice selection of interesting materials, mostly through professional journals and the weekly magazines.
Library cards are free.
Nice way around the self defeating paywalls.
Not advocating breaking any law Lori.
I advocating for talented people to create a platform so readers can get well thought out content.
Good for everyone.
And yes⦠I hate this paywall BS that has occurred in the last couple years. Counterproductive Lori.
More about that later.
Thatβs a false comparison.
If i go into the store to buy a paper, Iβve done so because I want the paper and value the content Iβm paying forβ¦ and pay for it.
The smart individual I was referring to would come up with a YouTube type platform where content was free to the public and authors were compensated as YouTube does.
Who knows.. the authors may make even more and reach more.
- I pay for what I believe is worthwhile for me.
Iβm not saying those publications I choose not to buy are bad and unworthy.
But Iβm choosy, my time is limited.
I respect the writers but feel the writers are wrong to a degree.. at this critical point in time.
Gosh Jack.
Nice posting.
You say what I think.
Nice. Keep it up.
The Easter Bunny isnβt real.
Bad Bunny is.
Shhhhh. Donβt tell Trump.
Tooth fairy too.
One more thing⦠EPSTEIN.
Iβm not advocating breaking the law.
I just want a model that offers content without all the freaking paywalls.
YouTube does it.
I can listen to anything on YouTube for free.
YouTube then pays the artists.
Some smart entrepreneur will crack this nut and perhaps save dying print.
I respect the hard work of writers and people in the media.
Iβm just tired of paywalls Lori.
One by one, app by app, Iβm again asked to pay.
I wish you knew me Clifton.
Youβve read me.
Iβm not the monster you think.
We all can be better.
Read my posts again Clifton.
Iβm not those things you say.
And my mom, what an absolutely amazing person. I miss her every day. Kind and empathetic.
She taught me to respect everyone, even those I disagree with.
What makes me so special?
Because Iβm the kind of
customer/reader a publisher dreams of.
