Over time, old and new Fantasyland has all blended together, and this distinction is often overlooked.

But New Fantasyland was more than just an expansion; it was an important addition to MK’s broader theme—the belief in storytelling to remind us that hope & transformation are always within reach.

The castle gates symbolize this transition, from the Faire’s nostalgic innocence to the Forest’s focus on personal growth and change.

The Faire asks us to believe in magic, while the Forest shows us how courage and resilience can help us overcome adversity and transform our own stories.

The Forest is different—it represents transformation, the American value that anyone can overcome adversity and rise.

In fairy tales, the forest is where characters discover resilience and inner strength. Stories like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid embody this theme.

One thing I wish more guests noticed is the distinction between Fantasyland Faire and Fantasyland Forest. The Faire celebrates childhood wonder, reflecting Walt’s belief that holding onto youthful optimism can inspire us to achieve dreams that feel unrealistic or out of reach. Here, anyone can fly.

The one thing that really made me happy was seeing that the Florida Strangler Fig with the Sabal palm growing within it was successfully relocated from the luau area to this space between the Island Tower and the Aotearoa building.
