Main Building of Inter-University Seminar House in Hachioji, Tokyo
Episode 10: Valuable paintings are being stolen and that's a bummer, but the truly important story here is that after 52 years, the Main Building of Tokyo's Inter-University Seminar House returns to Kamen Rider! It previously appeared as a research center way back in Kamen Rider V3 episode 32.

Despite how risky it was, Miyauchi insisted that we be able to see his face during these parts to make it believable. He says he was not a skilled motorcyclist at the beginning of the show, but he was by the end!

As long as they're going straight, the motorcycle still maintains forward momentum long enough to do the shot. The rest is pure skill because he had to keep it balanced.

I met her almost 20 years ago and she’s barely changed. She also got some of the biggest laughs of the evening. She is a national treasure.
Michi is a great host and of course let himself get flipped on his back (on a hard wood stage no less) as is tradition. If you ever see him in LA, say hi! 🧵

Miyauchi is definitely getting older, his voice gruffer, but he’s still sharp and knows how to tell a story (and deliver a punchline). Hizuru Ono though is on another level- she looks incredible, also has a great memory, and was taken aback by how many showed up tonight.
Many stories were shared. Even the ones I know are great to hear firsthand (like how Miyauchi did the bike transformations). One new one that struck me is that Miyauchi and Akira Yamaguchi stayed apart during filming to make the tension between Kazami/Yuki real, even declining to eat together.

Overall a strong (and tasty) showing once more. Some of these I’d probably order again! They’re definitely getting me back at least one more time. Maybe twice.

November is here and Squeenix changed up the menu at the cafe. They also have different coasters and placemats now, so once again the quest is on to try and get everything related to my favorite dragoon. And to ultimately try everything on the menu because at this point, why not?

As awful as the whole situation is, it was pretty surreal to see TV-Asahi cut right from the end of Gozyuger, with no next time trailer, outro or anything, then run the same Acuvue commercial four times in a row. Super Hero Time ending with the announcer cursing out the viewers would be less awkward

Episode 9 for reals: Given the last week, I needed some good tokusatsu, and this was it. A little classic Rider BSing to get out of things (those guys were clearly choking to death, but the sauce was THAT good, so it's okay!) while Nox is on a quest to introduce new toys. Xmas is coming after all!

Hey, this movie turned 20 years old last week. In the last two decades, almost everything in it has been superseded, literally by Shin Kamen Rider and stylistically by other productions (W Forever comes to mind). Its greatest asset is, ironically, the nostalgia it cultivates.
The Shining Star of Losers Everywhere
One of the best documentaries I've ever seen about a subject I otherwise know nothing about nor have any engagement with. It's short and absolutely worth a watch.

20 minutes in and somebody's already trying to kill Oda Nobunaga
Finally watched the first episode of the new Akakage. I'd heard some mixed reviews, but this was pretty alright? It's a little more slow-paced and grounded than the 60's show, but it's got the right ideas. Some parts are still straight out of that version. I couldn't confuse it with anything else.

Baku and Zero had a really bad trip- somebody laced that tea- and this is their fever dream
Episode 9: The weirdest episode so far- none of the scenes from last week’s trailer were even in it! Nox’s big plan was to run away while the good guys slowly follow? Fujimi and Nagumo narrate, but mostly it’s a lot of excited yelling. And Ace was promised but he never showed up! Dammit, Reiwa era!

And there’s the classy Amarant-themed seafood pasta, and a Moogle dessert that had seemingly everything. And I had to get Freya’s drink one more time before it gets phased out. From November, the menu gets an overhaul, though you can still get the anniversary cake, latte and Vivi drink.
