I helped build a government AI system. DOGE fired me, rolled the AI out to the whole agency, and implied the AI can do my job and the jobs of the others they've fired.

It can't. But, what DOGE accidentally revealed about themselves in the process is fascinating. 🧵

Three track kits - cameras, microphones, and stands - laid out on a table to record BarCamp Omaha tracks

I designed a track kit for @barcamp.events and I have three of them now, so when I get back to Omaha I wanna lend to folks doing tech meetups.

Go II’s are generally $250 for the three parts, the Mevo’s are pricey at $400 each ($1000 for a 3 pack) and a DSLR/Mirrorless can run the gamut. I sourced most of my stuff from local folks on FB Marketplace.

If you’re only ever doing one track, a Mirrorless or DSLR digital camera + those Rode Wireless Go II’s are miraculous!

I got you! Here’s my easy peasy @barcamp.events set up.

1) Rode Wireless Go II with two transmitters (one for the speaker which is clipped, optionally other for audience)

2) Boom mic if Audience

3) For video, I’m using the Logitech Mevo’s and may get a few more if I want to expand on the angles
