Why should you care that the president’s appointees at DOJ, including his former personal attorneys, could decide whether he gets a $230M payout directly to him? Because that money is coming directly from all of us, the U.S. taxpayers.

ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

The president is trying to illegally fire me. Who does this help? Does it help you? Or does it help the billionaires over the president’s shoulder at the inauguration?

That takes time (and more HR/personnel attys) to carry out, and if done en masse could slow down the process. And would force them to eventually put things on the record. But it comes at pretty significant personal risk. My heart aches for my former colleagues and other Feds faced with this. 3/3

And to be clear—it is an impossible choice. Either be personally complicit or walk away. But in doing so, you end up playing right into their plans. Perhaps the best choice is to refuse the orders and/or skirt them and force them to fire you for insubordination or failure to follow. 2/3

Unfortunately, this is part of their playbook. Force managers and others to go along with the farce and fire probationers and others or quit out of principle. Just another way to clear out as many feds as possible and wreak havoc on the agencies and their missions. 1/3

My parents are immigrants. They came to the U.S. in the 70s with my sister. My brother and I were born in the U.S. At some point my parents and my sister became citizens. I never bothered to inquire on the timeline of all of this until Trump 1 because it never mattered. Then it did matter. (1/3)
