ADDM:
“Plead” and “lead” are two examples of the notorious English “-ea” verbs’ polymorphism. “Plet” just doesn’t fly… yeah, I teach this stuff to German and French students…

The verb “plead” is a strange regular verb, but follows the same pattern as the verb “to lead”:
I/You plead; She/He/It pleads
I/You pleaded; She/He/It pleaded
I/You have pleaded
But there is the use of an alternative form of the past forms: “Pled”
“Pleading” is both the continuous form AND a noun.

In this “legal “ context, any bits of evidence that is tangible is a “document “. A spoken statement “becomes “ a “document “ when it’s transcribed or a recording is presented.

So amused by the pearl clutching by those comments on the NYC mayoral election, especially by those who can’t separate platforms from parties… social democracy is not a party.
