If you’re an intelligent person with (I think) a decent moral bedrock, and still want to hang in the fascist-friendly technobrosphere, the only way to resolve the subsequent cognitive dissonance is to live in a bubble plastered with American TV screens from your youth.

Thanks to my son, I now have 2 netherite ingots. I don’t know how to spend them yet.

And it’s so relatable, either on a personal of professional level!

Like “The Disintegrators”, all about my current project:

Coming down the road
Watching every move
Kicking in the doors
Taking what we choose

Anarchy's coming to town
A fiery invader
Burning it down to the ground
The Disintegrators

Every Megadeth album lives in the shadow of Rust In Peace, but among “the others”, Cryptic Writings is such a S-tier gem.

“Most people on the right agree that there is a thing called ‘woke’ and most of them agree that it’s a strain of neo-Marxism.”

I’m speechless. And angry. And terrified.

AI is like violence: if it doesn’t solve your problem that’s because you’re not using enough of it.

(This is also true of XML.)

The frame of non-standard dimensions that I ordered for my map of the Old World was delivered today – bended and broken. That’s nice.

As a podcast host, Ezra Klein is almost insufferable. Which is why it’s better when his guest is even worse than him.

Case in point: his conversation with Yoram Hazony, a fine piece of shit that makes Ezra look super good in comparison.

I spent weeks cleaning up Rails anti-patterns and getting the view layer into shape after years of SPA-inspired abuse, only to hear someone say “Hey, Figma AI turned my design into this functioning React stuff, can we merge it quickly?”

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Watching The Searchers. I know it’s a classic, and it’s from a different time, but the casual sexism and racism are still off putting.

I’m getting close to 50 now, and I can tell you that the feeling never leaves. And the game doesn’t get easier because it keeps receiving senseless updates, while your hardware becomes obsolete.

I've started playing Minecraft with my son. And found out that trackpads suck to play, so I needed a mouse.

Fortunately, I still have one. A brushed metal Logitech USB mouse, which I had picked because it paired nicely with my Powerbook G4.

My mouse is older than my son.

My naive opinion on macOS's upcoming look, so far: the glass thing is not as problematic for me as the true professionals say it is, but the rounded corners everywhere make me feel like I'm using a Fisher Price toy.

Joel Spolsky's "Smart and Get Things Done" remains best summary for engineering talent.

No-one gives a shit how you did in school or what your IQ is if you can't actually ship.

No-one cares how fast you ship if you are stupid about how you do it.

Move faster, intelligently.

Among the greatest promotional photos of all time are these for the 1990 television movie of IT, where it looks like a prestige legal drama about a firm of hot young lawyers and one associate who likes to dress up like a clown.

Simple fact: HTML is the best component framework out there. It is composable, universal, and grows more featureful by the quarter.
