Sample is small with only 50 minutes away from Cozens but probably should stay that way.

Brett Howden signed a 5 year, $2.5M AAV contract to stay with Vegas. We did not expect to see this type of term for Howden. AAV considering the length is fine but definitely an unexpected contract.

Vegas Golden Knights and Brayden McNabb, an original member of the team agree to a 3 year, $3.65M AAV contract. Very fair deal by both sides in this negotiation.

In summary, Larkin is seemingly playing a similar game but is benefiting from DeBrincat being on his wing. DeBrincat is benefiting from being tasked w/finding space and scoring goals, which is similar to what he was doing w/Kane in Chicago.

Playing w/Larkin has also allowed DeBrincat to play more in the offensive zone. Obviously, DeBrincat is not going to continue scoring over 1 goal per game. However, there seems to be a formula in place for improvement w/Red Wings compared to his time in Ottawa. 5/6

By playing w/Larkin #LGRW DeBrincat has a center that is solid playing a consistent two-way game and has generally been good to great in transition. DeBrincat's job is get himself into space and score goals. That's exactly what he is doing. 4/6

DeBrincat is seemingly the more interesting one early this season. His skating distance is down but bursts are way up. Is he energized by being w/a new team or is he playing a more efficient game? Considering Larkin's skillset, I'd lean the later.

Let's start w/ Larkin, who is playing with arguably the best winger of his career (or at least since the team's last playoff appearence) in Alex DeBrincat. There doesn't seem to be much change in his play from last season except more speed bursts per game. 2/6

Let's take another look at NHL Edge numbers to see what more insights can potentially be gleaned. The Red Wings top line has been off to a hot start, particularly Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat. 1/6

Right now this type of analysis seems to be one of the best insights to be gleaned from the NHL Edge stats.

TLDR: Alex Tuch might be dealing with an injury because skating power/speed is down.

Given Tuch missed some time in the preseason and the trend the data is showing, it appears there might be a nagging issue. That would be the team's hope because the other explanation is age is catching up at only 27. That would be a bigger issue. 5/6
