Well the disk passed the full write/read test but trying to use it as part of the zpool without fail causes failures (both of itself and/or other disks) so I suspect the Beelink just can’t power them all properly.

Any suggestions for nice little computers with 6 or so m2 NVMe slots?

I am once again the proud owner of a zpool named “tank” #FreeBSD

Funny thing is I had a bugzilla account from like 2014, just I never did anything with it

Submitted my patch for sysutils/nut_exporter. My first actual contribution to #FreeBSD, hope I did it right :)

buildworld and kernel done just in time, upgraded to 15.0-BETA5 successfully

I gave it the hostname “beebsd” which I am unreasonably pleased with

The Bee-Link ME Mini has arrived and #FreeBSD is installed. Sonic is helping it buildworld and monitoring CPU temps.

I have one of those Bee-Link ME Mini things on the way, planning to make it a second NAS (with my Synology) and also a chance to play ZFS properly again — last time was about 2014. Not ordered any SSDs yet for storage but have some spares to play with for now.

I patched the sysutils/nut_exporter port to add support for the server option in rc.conf. Went to submit it and it turns out account signup on the bug tracker is now manually processed by email (thanks, AI spam) so waiting on that now #FreeBSD

I need to figure out the incantation to make NUT make itself a server for that UPS though, so I can easily hook up the exporter to it (FreeBSD’s rc script for the exporter doesn’t expose the needed cli option to connect to a remote ups)

If you have a Synology NAS you can use NUT as a client for it to get controlled shutdown of other hosts in addition to the Synology.

You have to allow the client IP(s) in the Syno UPS config, and then use “ups@nas-hostname” to access it with NUT.
