Now is the time for a renewed commitment by all agencies to implement all the recommendations to ensure lasting change for victims of stalking.
25.09.2025 07:00 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0
We thank the National Stalking Consortium for their tireless campaigning, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct, His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), and College of Policing for their thorough investigation.
As stalking and harassment account for 43% of VAWG recorded by the police, there is an urgent need to reallocate existing resources to ensure stalking is both prioritised and funded accordingly.
25.09.2025 07:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0While we acknowledge the difficult funding landscape and genuine resource constraints for police forces outlined in the NPCC progress report, police forces cannot continue to use this as a justification for inaction or delay in protecting victims of stalking.
25.09.2025 07:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Without this transparency, it is impossible to fully assess where improvements are being made β and where they are not.
25.09.2025 07:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
However, the lack of a national requirement for individual police forces to publicly share their progress reports seriously hinders the specialist stalking sectorβs ability to monitor local progress and hold forces accountable.
We welcome the progress outlined in the National Police Chiefs' Council's (NPCC) recent report and recognise the efforts of police forces to improve their handling of stalking cases.
25.09.2025 07:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On the anniversary of the landmark stalking super complaint findings, we are calling for ongoing police transparency, accountability and commitment to ensure meaningful and systemic change for victims.

80% of UK women have experienced harassment, yet 75% say no one stepped in.
Our #SaferParks campaign highlights the prevalence of street harassment in parks, encouraging staff, volunteers and the public to help us create more welcoming green spaces.
It is imperative that the justice system is not utilised for abuse.
We support Claire Waxmanβs calls for the Government to use the Victims and Courts Bill to address this issue. Victims deserve to feel safe and a criminal justice system that does not prolong their abuse.
Claire Waxman's case highlights a serious gap in the justice system. Too often, victims face βstalking by litigationβ, where stalkers lodge repeated and vexatious legal challenges that re-traumatise survivors and undermine the protection of court orders.
22.09.2025 10:37 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0We recognise the immense personal ordeal she has endured at the hands of a stalker, and we thank her for her tireless work to champion the rights of stalking victims.
22.09.2025 10:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Suzy Lamplugh Trust stands with London Victims' Commissioner Claire Waxman OBE in calling for urgent reform to stop stalkers from misusing the courts to prolong their stalking.
