Trying to have a serious discussion about my plummeting mental health, but I'm a millennial so all I can manage to share is that I'm depressi spaghetti.

I'm too tired for conflict now. Call my art trash? Sure. Call it AI? Sure sure. Betray my trust? Go for it, man.

A toxic trait of mine is starting a drawing for a new fandom, seeing the quality of the artwork in the fandom already, and feeling so intimidated and inadequate I never draw for that fandom again. It's pretty embarrassing tbh.

I do see young fans being accused of causing most of the issues, but older fans aren't blameless. Hell, to this day you can step into older fandoms and find 'rival' shippers rehashing the same arguments over a series that ended like 20 years ago. We just don't learn.

Yeh nah. I've heard this rumour a lot. About ships and about certain characters. I never bought it then and I don't buy it now.

Exactly. I'm not wild about some parts, and I think some of the messages got lost along the way, but to call him a bad writer despite telling a story that brought billions of people together is objectively pretty shitty.

I promised for my sanity twt would be art only so BSKY gets this one.

But that Horikoshi can create a universe and characters that are so goddamn fucking loved across the world and still be called a 'bad writer' is why I can't take half that fandom seriously anymore

I wouldn't have the job I do now if I hadn't been so inspired by his character and Horikoshi's story to start drawing again. Or met the people that are now my best friends. You have no idea what small things are gonna end up changing your whole damn life down the line.

Insane to think that this character right here is, in a very real sense, responsible for the life I have now, and the people I get to share it with.

Watching Jay, I realize I am simply exhausted by folks in positions of leadership who are driven to distraction by critique.

If you can't function with critique and pushback, a leadership position is not for you.

Leadership REQUIRES you to absorb and process the critique of stakeholders.

Honestly, the moderation here has got BSKY feeling like just a bigger Discord server where everyone hates each other.

The words "healthy discourse project" got me throwing up in my mouth a little bit.

Because then suddenly my art doesn't look like my art and in comes the identity crisis.

Take me back to my low res safety zone, I can't handle being perceived in high definition.

So when I resize my itty bitty scratchy sketch to start rendering it's often blurry and pixelated as hell. It used to drive me crazy but now I've just adapted to that being part of my style and I love the effect.

Which is all well and good until I try working with a different software.

I often think about how the limitations of Procreate is one of the bigger contributors to the development of my style over the years.

The pixilation you get resizing a layer in Procreate is pretty bad, given it's pixels not vectors. But I draw tiny, my comfort zone very much being 500px or less.
