Trump's Weakness on Full Display Back during Trump's first term, I read a description of him that really captured his essence.

After insisting he would not back down on his global tariffs, Trump has retreated, with no notable concessions to show for it. In doing so, he has demonstrated profound weakness on the world stage.

He's very careful to be specific and say he's never "physically" hurt anyone. Because he knows very well that he has profoundly hurt and even caused the deaths of many, many people through DOGE's activities. He knows. So he knows very well why people hate him.

Every stupid policy move that Trump makes, there's only one consistent element. It's bad for the US, every time. Whether its destroying American diplomacy, trade, civil rights, the civil service, democracy or the rule of law... it never, ever benefit Americans. Who benefits from destroying America?

The question of if a country could fuck itself harder than the UK did with Brexit has today been answered.

It's not for nothing. It's for the benefit of Vladimir Putin. Never forget that everything Trump does starts and ends with Putin's interests.

It's horrifying and it's insane, but it tracks. His thesis is certainly consistent with everything we've been seeing.

That is batshit insane. It's unprompted and out of context. It's racist and distasteful, but it's also completely bonkers. Someone is losing their mind.

I feel like this captures the difference between Republicans and Democrats so well. One will take any opportunity to punch down, no matter how petty. The other is willing to stand up to bullying and abuse and not back down. And it's so in character for the bully to flee in the end.

Just as Hitler rose from the ashes and grievances of World War I, it looks like Trump’s dream is to reduce the United States to rubble so that he can turn what’s left of our once great country into his base of aggressively expansionist operations in alliance with Vladimir Putin and a few oligarchs.

He hasn't discovered a single instance of fraud. The things he has defunded weren't waste; they were simply things that he didn't approve of spending on. The gov't is spending more money so far, not less, so there is no efficiency. And he is well aware of all this.

Sure, but his wonderful healthcare plan is coming in two weeks.

I don't give a shit what he says he'll do. Let us know when he actually does it.

Exactly this. Trump et al are breaking laws so rapidly, they simply cannot afford to give up power for fear of facing consequences. Ending democracy transforms from an ambition to a survival-level necessity. Any atrocity becomes acceptable to preserve their own lives and liberty.

Gene Hackman was proud of the fact Richard Nixon put him on the "enemies" list and I think we can honor him and whatever joy his career has given you by living our lives in such a way that evil people know our names and think of us as enemies.

They'll definitely be in Trump's cabinet in some capacity.
