On the 15th of November, we've celebrated Europe's equal pay day. That was hardly noted in Italy, probably because UNadjusted Italian Gender Wage Gap seems low (5,5% against the EU average of 14,4%).

Please mind: Italy's adjusted wage gap is at 11%, close to the EU adjusted average.

The uncorrected wage gap is indeed very low in Italy. Still, If we correct for personal, job and organizational characteristics of work, the unexplained wage gap for Europe improves with more than 3%, while Italian numbers double (Eurostat, 2021).
