06.12.2025 19:29 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0No, not at all. You’re right. I think Seven is much more ‘produced’ than Rio. But I think that’s a symptom of a year’s difference in how music production was evolving. I seem to remember reading that the band thought it was overdone, too. Packed full of catchy tunes all the same!
06.12.2025 19:16 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Remember when I said Duran Duran's Seven and The Ragged Tiger was over-produced?

I was wrong. I pulled it out of the archives. It's a little shinier than Rio, but it's fantastic!

On those rare occasions that teenage me made it to a girl's bedroom in the 80s a 6ft poster of Duran Duran doesn't half put you off your stride #totp

Very cunning, Sainsbury’s. Very cunning…
Classic Pop names Duran Duran’s Rio as the magazine’s #1 album!
“Rio is the perfect mix of art, disco, rock, funk and poetry. Nobody has bettered it since.”
36 years ago today ~ Burning The Ground was released to promote Decade!
The remix was created by producer John Jones, with Dee Long and engineer Chris Potter, in an upstairs room at Olympic Studios in London while Duran Duran was downstairs recording songs for the Liberty album.

02.12.2025 20:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0So which track is going to make the drop cut playlist? Simple. Pop Trash Movie. It’s as good as Ordinary World. But maybe I’m the only one who thinks so! What would your choice be?
02.12.2025 12:31 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Yet, creatively, for me at least, the album flows from beginning to end and I don’t skip any tracks. Starting To Remember is beautiful and Lava Lamp has psychedelic layers to it. Throughout, the guitar is high in the mix which is always a plus for me.
02.12.2025 12:29 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The album spawned three singles which weren’t released everywhere…Someone Else Not Me, Last Day On Earth and Playing With Uranium. Commercially, the album is one of the lowest points of Duran Duran’s career.
