I read it as an ARC. Twice. It's that good.

Age verification? I remember first watching television in the early 1950s.

Math involving functions that aren't continuous (as in calculus). What I remember is Boolean algebra and logical operations, especially as applied in computers. Also graphs. And the prof's fondness for the Banach-Tarski paradox, which I'm not sure is a discrete math kinda thing.

I guess I deserved that. You'd think that, editor that I am, I would proofread my posts :(

Jigsaw puzzles. On the computer, with a program called Brainsbreaker. Never lose a piece. Make any jpeg into a puzzle. I'm fond of ukiyo-e and shin hanga puzzles.

Very soothing.

Just block the idiots. Love your writing, save your energy for that.

The problem is governments and universities that link degrees, promotion, and even cash payments to publication. PRC is known for all of this. Not that Western universities aren't guilty in their own ways.

Not saying that they're alone in this. Malpractice is worldwide. If you look at retraction watch, names from all over. I just know this personally, having edited scientific papers for PRC scientists a few years ago. Some good, ethical scientists there and also some jerks.

They might try to cut off social security and medicare payments for anyone they deem a terrorist.

PRC researchers pushed to publish; will do anything to publish. Paper mills. Plagiarism. Shoddy research.

Because they don't give a %^&%^ about the damage that refining does to the environment.

PRC scientists are highly incentivized to publish and many of them will do anything (even if illegal and immoral) to get those publications. Plagiarism. Paper mills. Shoddy research.

I know because for a time I edited scientific papers from the PRC.

I help write book reviews and got access to an ARC. This is a read-in-one-gulp book and I loved it.

I think that the original is a joke. Not real.

When not going to court, Honolulu lawyers wear Reyn Spooner button-down (!!!) aloha shirts. In muted prints.

Are those the only pre-1980 films on Netflix? They've missed some great ones. Like Mughal e Azam. Or Mother India or Deewar.

I wouldn't call it great, but Padosan has some great singing. Kishore Kumar!

My trauma was steak. It was supposed to be a special treat, but I hated it. I had to cut it up into tiny pieces and wash it down with water, like pills.

I remember that rule with horror. I recall one incident when I refused to eat my brussels sprouts and was told to sit at the table until I finished them. I don't know how long I sat, or if I ever did choke them down but ... I remember counting motifs on the wallpaper.

When we had heavy rains here in Honolu, I would put my young daughter in her swimsuit and let her splash with abandon.

But it's warm here...

If she couldn't in conscience issue marriage licenses, she should have quit. The same way pacifists refuse to engage in war. Or Chinese literati become hermits rather than work for an emperor enforcing bad polices.

That's not logical. I believe the rule was intended to save space, and money, when printing material. As most of what I consume now is digital, this illogical rule is no longer necessary.

That said, as an editor and writer, I apply it. I just don't like it.
