This reminds me of that time a pandemic hit, and the prior administration had a well thought out playbook for such an event, but the administration in place at the time decided to trash it.

The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.

My last thought on this thread. They voted for somebody who is directly responsible for defunding USAID. Many many people will die because we are not helping them anymore. Those are the people that I feel sorry for because they didn’t vote for this administration. Do you care about them?

Yes, it is an additional $6000 deduction for those age 65 and older. But it also phases out over a certain income level so not all will benefit from it.

The White House web site has a title “no tax on social security” then an explanation that 88% of recipients will pay no tax. So it’s ok to make a promise to 8 people but only deliver to 7? That’s a promise kept?
Most recipients (64% or so) already didn’t pay tax on their benefits.
