I'm struggling a bit at the moment. It's nothing serious but both my folks are in their mid-to-late '70s and have just made Wills. I think my dad may have very early signs of dementia but I'm unsure.

So I'm worrying a lot about legacy and the future. 🤔

By casuals, I just mean people who haven't played a lot of JRPGs and won't know anything about the games that influenced Expedition 33, or those who aren't really into the anime art style or themes of a lot JRPGs (like me).

This whole Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 discourse is maddening. There's JRPG fans getting mad at casuals and casuals getting mad at JRPG fans.

When folks talk about who should buy BioWare, I think the answer shouldn't be a AAA Publisher/Studio but rather someone buying them to make them independent. It's precisely because of being bought by EA that there have been issues with the studio.

This is what folks seem to forget. Most folks don't play or complete multiple games per year, so it's no wonder Xbox GamePass and other services don't always succeed or aren't sustainable. There's also way too many games and I think a lot of gamers have massive backlogs. I know I do.

That's how a lot of open world games are for me. It does depend on the setting though. Cyberpunk at least has a mostly dense City to go around but a lot of open worlds are large open areas without much going on in them.

Also doesn't help that the Oblivion remaster is broken due to it using the original GameBryo engine. It sold amazingly well but its performance is terrible.

Tbh, Morrowind and Oblivion are overhyped games anyway but that may just me be not really enjoying them all that much.

I don't mind remasters/remakes of old games if those games are unplayable in their original state but I want new IP over remakes/remasters and as prequels/sequels.

And some of these games I played myself in the 1990s/2000s, so I'm not coming to all of them fresh.

I can understand why remakes/remasters are selling well but I also think there's a lot of folks with nostalgia goggles on for the original games they claim they want remade/remastered.
