09.02.2026 00:30 β π 2 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Chart shows life expectancy (3-year rolling average) from the pre-pandemic year 2019 through 2024. The SK govt declared COVID over in Feb 2022. But the chart shows Saskatchewanβs worst year for life expectancy was actually the next year, 2023. Saskatchewan started the pandemic with the 3rd lowest life expectancy among the provinces, ahead of Newfoundland & Manitoba, but by 2024 was second lowest, ahead only of Manitoba.
How are we in Saskatchewan doing with life expectancy through COVID? Pretty awful, actually.
New Statistics Canada report shows SK life expectancy is 2nd lowest of π¨π¦βs provinces in 2024, down from 3rd lowest in last year before the pandemic.

Olympians are masking up with N95s because they know a covid infection can derail their chances of competing.
They know it could derail their careers.
They know it could disable them.
Theyβre practicing self care and community care.

Just heard Little Red Riding Hood has been found in critical condition. Paramedics have her stabilized but she's apparently not out of the woods yet.

As an aside, the worst polar bears I've encountered in my three decades of fieldwork along the Hudson Bay Coast are those with blood on their face like this guy below. You can see bugs all over the face and blood on the cheeks--mosquitos and black flies have been driving them crazy.

It would be a lot easier if the small band of low IQ separatists just moved to the U.S. or North Korea. Done and done.
04.02.2026 20:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Begs the question --is there even any testing going on in Saskatchewan and Manitoba? My best guess is no.
04.02.2026 20:41 β π 9 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Very powerful and important. The Alberta separatists are a low IQ collective living in a fantasy of their own creation. Alberta is not separating. It just isn't.

04.02.2026 04:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Figure of Western U.S. snow cover area from 2001 to 2026 illustrates a staggering decline in current coverage compared to historical norms. While the historical data for mid-January typically clusters between 400,000 and 600,000 square miles, the line for 2026 sits in unprecedented territory at the very bottom of the graph. On January 15, 2026, the snow cover area plummeted to a record low of 142,700 square milesβless than one-third of the median and the lowest point in the entire 25-year satellite record. This visual gap emphasizes a severe "snow drought," with the 2026 data point trailing significantly behind even the previous record lows, highlighting an extreme and alarming anomaly in winter precipitation.
The western U.S. faces its lowest snowpack on record despite average or above-average rainfall. Warmer temperatures mean more precipitation falls as rain rather than snow, and will worsen droughts in areas like the Pacific Northwest and the Colorado River Basin.

The original program required people to complain their local RM and then hopefully the RM forwarded that to SCIC and that was very slow and inefficient. This new approach is more direct at least. As far as I can tell they only are taking action in two spots in the province.
03.02.2026 23:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This program has been around for about a decade or so, though their communication approach is pretty new.

03.02.2026 17:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We stripped everything from the helicopter that we could remove and sent him out on his own. He came back hours later and indicated that he was flying toward the fuel cache, got a warning light that there was 30 seconds of fuel left so he landed and spotted a glint of fuel drums in the distance.
03.02.2026 17:37 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The University of Saskatchewan has been stepping up efforts to support Indigenous students and I am so excited to hear today that my current NSERC funded undergraduate thesis student Kim Lebel has been awarded the Sprott Indigenous Graduate Scholar Award.
