Anecdotal, but so far, all the friends or acquaintances who’ve shared pro-Alberta-independence material were people I already suspected were…not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Not necessarily bad people- some of them seem like very good people- but not exactly critical thinkers either.

I guess I’m supposed to just lay down and die. Because no one’s interested in helping me find any other solution.

As someone who lives by raising beef cattle, what am I supposed to do with this?

Because I don’t argue against any of the problems with the global beef industry. But apparently, any good achieved doesn’t count.

And no one gives a shit about anything I try to do right because it’s still just beef.

Hmmm…this may violate my personal Prohibition on ‘Hitler Concerns’.

I think there’s a significant amount of German, French, and English influence in Afrikaans too. Maybe Portuguese too. And probably indigenous African languages (but I don’t know much about that one).

Hearing Afrikaans is always wild.

It feels like I should understand it. Sometimes I think I almost do.

But I don’t have a damned clue.

That makes it significantly worse.

I did wonder about the possibility of mounting some sort of air horn on the tree directly behind the stand. Or a buzzer that would go off every hour or so.

I mean, I’m not opposed to hunting at all but too many of them just do as they please with no regard for anyone or anything else (and that’s before we even get to the legal side of things).

I suppose there’s a good chance that winter came and buddy just wasn’t able to come back for his stand.

But still…

I discovered a hunter’s tree stand in one of our fields yesterday. Probably put up last fall.

In some ways it doesn’t matter- we give hunting permission to anyone who asks.

But it feels extremely…presumptuous. A tree stand is different from walking (or even driving) across the field.

The horse let me know (in no uncertain terms) that cornfields are weird and creepy and probably full of things that eat horses and she hates them and we should never go back there again.

Well… I do understand the desire to blame anything but the ice cream! But it’s pretty hard to build a good case against the tenderloin.

Isn’t your husband Slovak? I thought Slovaks were required to love pork by law.
