There's nothing quite like film to help us understand experiences and realities that aren't ours. The 3-day line-up couldn't be happening at a more pivotal moment. Each one speaks to many of the issues politicians are currently debating and law making on.

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Academic Databases and the Art of the Overcharge Clarivate, Elsevier, and the American Chemical Society are comfortable pursuing a strategy of pricing discrimination. But libraries don’t have to go along with it. This data can help.

A must read for academics. Faculty, it's always a good time to talk to your librarians to learn about options for open access scholarly communication #skybrarians katinamagazine.org/content/arti...

How long before deeply dangerous political mandates make their way into this company's curation decisions? Hopefully never, but definitely feeling very possible after this shake up πŸ˜•

The reminder this article gives that this is purely a financial decision is so chilling. Money hungry tech giants like this one are flocking to T's honey trap and along the way they're making horrible, horrible decisions.

Thanks for sharing! Ostensibly inclusion/exclusion of title in the collection is determined by the distribution agreement bw clarivate and the rights holder as well is curation by librarians (as if librarian involvement has ever been a cure for harmful bias in collection development).

Episode 3 of Literacies, a 4-part Audio Series is live! When we recorded this episode last summer we had no idea what the data environment would be during our planned release for #LoveDataWeek Turns out, we couldn't have planned it better. Enjoy this quick listen!

Dear perfume wearers,
It's spring in New Orleans, which means it's also allergy season. If you wear perfume, be kind to us seasonal allergy folks and don't. A brief scent of your chemical perfumes burns our noses and leaves us sneezing, congested, and generally ick feeling for the next hour.

After 138 years, a Black composer's magnum opus finds a stage Morgiane, perhaps the oldest opera by a Black American, finally receives its full public performance, shedding light on the forgotten heyday of opera in New Orleans.

What an amazing weekend for New Orleans music! The magic weaving Tank and the Bangas are coming home with a Grammy πŸ”₯and New Orleans based Opera Creole is updating music history by introducing the world to the 138 year old opera by New Orleans very own Edmond DΓ©dΓ©

Question: does everyone ever conducted research that tries to discover if there are any correlations between the weather and the mood that people bring to their steering wheel?

Scenario and then a question for all my weather nerd friends. Yesterday The skies were gray, it was overcast, it was cold, and people were incredibly selfish drivers. Today the skies are an amazing blue, the sun is warm but not hot, the temperature is perfection, people were driving with kindness.
