Started reading “East of Eden” which is one of the few Steinbeck novels I’ve not read before and hot damn it rips y’all.
The way that he writes about the mundanity of life, the depth of human emotion and the complexities of familial relationships, whoo beans almost no one does it better.

Life is too short to widen your circle just to make bigger numbers. The only numbers I care about are the measurements in my latest baking recipe ,the page number of the book I’m reading or how many HP and spell slots I have left 🤘

My time is precious and I only want to be excited about stuff I love with like minded folk.

I’ve been getting a lot of random follows lately so I feel the need to say this. If you follow me and we’ve never interacted in anyway and you follow tens of thousands of accounts , I’m just going to block you.
I’m of an age where I’ve zero interest in follow count.

His life is separated through years and many miles from mine and yet every time I read his work it feels like coming home. Books are the most powerful magic we have , right up there with tiny acts of kindness.

Finished Murakami’s“The City and its Uncertain Walls”.
His books feel like a gift.
How wonderful to live in a world with books translated into our native language so we can find ourselves between the pages.
Reading is one of the best ways to see how through all our differences, we are the same💜

A gentle snow was falling as I walked the dogs this morning.
They are both older and we’re all quite happy to take our time.
Breathing in fresh winter air, snowflakes on my cheeks , dogs looking back at me , smiling, to make sure I’m having fun too.
If this isn’t nice , I don’t know what is.

The injured squirrel that I feed in our back yard is well on the mend!! He showed up today, running and jumping on the injured paw again & it looks to be completely scabbed over and no longer swollen.
I’m so relieved he made it ☺️
Being kind to the smols is one of my biggest joys.

I have been sick this weekend BUT…..I did watch 2 and a half movies , almost finish the Murakami I’m reading and started a new Baldurs Gate 3 play though , so it could be worse.

Yes!! It’s honestly one of the best I’ve found. We’re very fond of tossing it on a pan in the oven with bratwurst , garlic and onion and then onto a toasted bun with lots of mustard. SO good!
