think I genuinely just don't have the mental fortitude to do job applications. I could do a few, but knowing that it'll take hundreds has me giving up at the starting line. but I'm still not good enough to make a living on my own either. fuck

Funny enough, it was another MOBA that got me thinking about this. Heard the news that Pokemon Unite recently got an update that added License Journeys, that everyone hated it and were quitting the game, and that it sounded pretty similar to fighter's road from another popular and now dead F2P game

Warframe is usually the example I see people point to as a free-to-play game done right. Maybe I should learn more about how it manages that, but I always got the impression that it's a bit of an anomaly that can't just be replicated

Question: do you guys believe free-to-play is inherently bad as a business model?

Been thinking about that (and personally I think it's intrinsically corrosive to any game that goes that route), but I'm curious to hear what other people think.

These days mostly for good IMO. Like looking at popular trends in the last decade of the game industry, I think I hate almost all of them? Definitely most of them anyway lol, way easier to think of negative trends than positive ones

Yeah exactly. Like for every lawful evil act of aggressively protecting their IP from getting cool fan games, they do something good like being the only big game company not doing AI, or chaotic like Virtual boy online. It all balances out lol.

But Nintendo is the definitive "true neutral" of game companies. They've been true neutral for probably like a decade now, and I'm tired of pretending that they're anything else, lol

Can find a bit of every alignment in their behavior, but never the extremes
