You mean with the Robot Generators or with the Time Stones? Regardless of that, hot take;
The special stages in CD are the best since you have a fair bit of actual control of Sonic and can technically save your butt endlessly by destroying an extra UFO that spawns a little before the timer runs out.

Yeah, GB I definitely understand; Could be due to the slightly more classic-ym, more limited color palettes??
