Every "smart" tool is a tool of surveillance. Every tool of surveillance is a tool of control. And that goes for tools with "intelligence" too.

The anger that speaks loudly for most critics isn't against things like usefulness for specific tasks but anger at the political economy of AI, the extraction, the culture, the denial of how it fails, the violence companies are perpetuating, the entire apparatus of harms that are a bigger priority.
