I found mine through signing up & paying to be matched w/ “first chapter beta readers”. We are a trio now but started w/ 4.

We meet weekly, bi-weekly, & monthly depending but are on hiatus for now. One of us got agented, one got published in an anthology, and one is querying her ass off 😜

The moral of the story being: you can’t predict where your next success will come from, so keep writing, sharing, and learning and keep your ears, heart, and mind open 😊

To keep me humble, the fates handed me a heap of other agent rejections, a handful of DNRs, & no one else has requested a full. 😅

Kinda wonder if I jinxed myself with this happy post 😜 jk!

I haven’t heard back yet from the 2nd FR agent. It has been ~75 days since sub.

But! From stats on query tracker, she has a high response rate & she rejected other subs she requested after mine.

I think I’m still a maybe?

You’d think after 40yrs of being “me”, that I’d get used to “not being a good fit.” But it still stings.

I played #clarinet for nearly a decade. In MS & HS I did band: marching, field show, comp ensemble, & pep.

It’s been 20+yrs since then, & still—

My fingers twitch anytime I hear 25 or 6 to 4.

My Mom always wanted to be a lit pic book author & while she was on hospice I ended up writing a pic book story. I don’t write pic books, so I was shocked when it came out while I grief wrote. I never got to share it with her & it isn’t good lit, but it helped me see why she loved that form so much.
