Corey The bright vastness of a clear blue sky does nothing but make my body hum with anxiety, praying that clouds will roll in soon. Maybe it’s the promise of an unimpeded race day or maybe it’s too overwhelming to see the unending horizon, the edge of the Earth tapering off into nonexistence too much for my brain to comprehend. Rain clouds and fog soothe me, the atmosphere reaching down and embracing me, never failing to tamp down festering negative emotions. Growing up without much affection, I don’t know what comfort should feel like, so humidity is the closest thing I have. Even one cloud above me is enough to set my rapid mind at ease.
