Reading about the valuation of Quality-Adjusted Life Years. Would quite like a team of economists and bioethicists to value a year of my life, adjusted for quality. Does the value go down every time I spend an evening watching old episodes of NCIS?

Which I'm going to take as the compliment it wasn't.

This! This point is so important, and so unpopular. If we believe in tackingly inequality, we need to recognise the global scale of this problem, and this will mean sacrificing luxuries. But the pay-off is environmental and social justice. Painful? Yes. But worth it.

Don't let national leaders reduce you to your nationality. Your identity is complex, and your relationships are many. When a national leader wants you to focus on your nationality above all, it's because they want to be your only leader. They're an abuser cutting you off from other relationships.

Terribly sad to hear that Richard B Hays died yesterday. A wonderful Biblical scholar, a wonderful theologian, and by all accounts a kind man. I met him only once - he signed my copy of Moral Vision - and I've been thinking a lot about his latest book "A Widening of God's Mercy".

Sounds like a strong basis for a research visit...

Just been to my 4yo's nursery sing-along. I forget that public communal singing isn't normal practice for most people who don't attend the church, and it surprises me every time.
