….2 of 2….It’s all fine. They are going about life happily reveling in the fruit of their stupid. Then there are people like us - empaths. People who care about others and the world we will leave for our kids and our grands. They’re happy. That’s fucking scary.

You know what I realized last night while driving near our second home on the ruby-red Florida Panhandle (Gaetz’ former district)? I realized that the vast majority of people down here (and near our other home in Georgia) think everything is great. 1 of 2…

We got our first order a couple weeks ago, loving it so far.

@mayimbialik.bsky.social
Thoughts?
@chucklorre.bsky.social @billprady.com I think it’s time you guys intervene and have the BBT episodes that feature Musk and Gaiman pulled. The Musk epi. just ran on TBS, ON Inauguration Day, no less. Sexual predators and (worse) Nazis aren’t worthy of your show.

The Musk episode just ran on TBS - *ON* Inauguration Day, no less.

Sexual predators and (worse) Nazis aren’t worthy of your show.

Ohio State (in addition to winning the National Championship) finishes as number 1 in the final AP poll.

They beat final numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 10 this season.

The first 3 *IN* the playoff.

Number 5 on the road.

Absolutely remarkable season.

@mcuban.bsky.social How do you handle the bots and porn spammers here? I have 156 followers and get inundated with them - you have nearly a million. Is it exponential for you? I want to agree with you and maximize this app, but it is exhausting - it’s like swatting flies at a manure pile.

Here’s a literal example (test): I commented 3 minutes ago on a post from @stonekettle.bsky.social and this follow by “Vanessa” happened almost instantly.

So, I *really* want to use @bsky.app instead of Threads (long ago left X), but I am
Inundated by porn bots. Inundated. Until that’s fixed, I can’t really use it. Every single time I post, it’s like opening the spigot on a faucet of crap. Please fix the issue.

But…so many porn bots. So many.

Just another idea he claims as IP, but simply stolen from someone, maybe the GEICO caveman.

2/2…It’s the pain I feel for the people who have lost. It simply disgusts me to read the politicalization and division that some are using this catastrophe to amplify.

1/2….I grew up in Sherman Oaks, about 14mi from Pacific Palisades as the crow flies. I don’t have any family left there anymore after my aunt passed away in 2024. But this all still very much hurts, and I have no losses involved. It’s the loss of the idea of home and the memory banks associated.

He could start by putting some of it over the top of his own crudely dug grave. Once it’s mostly full, I’m sure there’d be no shortage of folks willing to top it off.

2/2…To the best of my knowledge, throughout history that kind of change has only ever really occurred as a result of (literally) armed uprising or foreign intervention (ala WWII). What am I missing?

1/2…Honest question for all of you. As we approach Jan. 20, and people talk about resistance, etc.

Can anyone give me even a single example where authoritarianism has been overcome by elections or legislation?

Jesus, Geoff. Simple Dreams, not Private Lives. What strange Hall & Oates (kinda) dimension did I pass poor Linda into?

Christmas Eve, quiet day at home while smoking a turkey for just the Mrs. and I. While cooking, spinning vinyl in this sequence so far:
Tom Petty - Damn The Torpedoes
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars
Linda Ronstadt - Private Lives
More suggestions welcomed!
Turkey looks good!

And further….if it’s a list broker, it gets perpetuated further as they resell the list over-and-over. And the “cover story”’if caught is that “the list wasn’t sync’d realtime, so the unsubscribe/suppress never populated to the version we are using”

19.12.2024 00:38 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

If the sender is unscrupulous, yes. It simply validates that it’s a functional address with a human user at the other end of it. Legally, they’re suppose to remove you from the list. But in my long career, I never encountered anyone who’d even try to adjudicate that.

As a longtime marketer, I learned very early that most emails are quite randomly sent to acquired lists. Since the sender really has no idea if they are good or not, the process of bounces tells them which are inactive. The process of unsubscribing just validates that the email got to a person.

2 of 2…they never feared the same from our side when/if they won. We merely folded up our tents and went home, to read from lawyers about fighting the “good fight”.

1 of 2…Please share an example (any example) where authoritarianism has been stopped through elections, or democratic efforts. As far as I know, the only winning fights against tyranny have been bloody uprisings & wars. Why will/could the US be different?

2 of 2…if these new voters grew up in MAGA households (and especially since 2020 where they were 15+ and more cognizant of politics) they were always going to vote the exact same way as their parents. Most people do. And like it or not MAGA households were far more “engaged and enraged”.

1 of 2 The young people registering is (in my opinion ) the worst indicator. Yes, LOTS of new voters aged 18-24 voted this time. You do realize that they have known NOTHING but a political landscape dominated by DJT for 9 years (so since many of them were 9 years old).

I’m fully unwilling to give any kind of pass to the other 65M+. I live where you see it every day. I *just* drove past a “house” where they (finally) took down their dozens of Trump flags and signs - and replaced the main flag (on a large pole) with one that says “I voted for the convicted felon”
