15.02.2026 14:50 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The weather conditions were utterly horrific for a race, but Iโm still surprised I ran as fast as I did considering. Not to mention that this is my first run since last Sunday as I had been sick with an infection earlier in the week which disrupted my training heapsโฆ

13.02.2026 22:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Hello you! Been a minute ๐๐ค
13.02.2026 21:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The galling thing is that this person tried to cloud that amongst other feedback that they were giving me, telling me how it was great that I could speak about mental health but they didnโt need to know about it as they hardly knew me, amongst other things. I was so horrified by the whole thing.
13.02.2026 19:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We all need to do better in creating safe environments for everyone so they can be their authentic selves - never be afraid to speak up and speak out!

I am still a little shaken, but my god I am also angry that these attitudes continue to exist within the workplaceโฆ
13.02.2026 19:00 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I almost hesitated to post this because I was second guessing myself - โdid I deserve this?โ, โwas I oversharing?โ, โis it my fault?โ
And of course the answer to all of the above is a resounding NOโฆ
This is EXACTLY why we need to be more open and talk more about mental health in the workplace. What I experienced yesterday was nothing short of horrific - I do not wish this kind of thing upon anyone, especially upon those who are dealing with mental health issuesโฆ

Tomorrowโs easy run is only 6km, which will come as a relief to my poor legs. Then itโs 400m interval repeats on Wednesday and then finally a 10km easy run on Friday before my first race of the year - the London Winter Run 10K next Sunday!
Looking forward to it all - bring it on! โค๏ธ๐ช
As some wise runners said to me once, training on tired legs is a good thing in the long run, as it ultimately increases your lactate threshold and thus allows you to maintain faster paces for longerโฆ
08.02.2026 17:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This has probably been the most gruelling weekend of running Iโve done in a long time! My legs did not feel fresh at all, and they just about went dead in that final 6.5 kilometresโฆ

I still kept the run almost completely within Zone 2, and it was a very easy run all up. I should feel energised for the long run tomorrowโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช

Iโve got a 10km easy run tomorrow and then a 20km hotspot long run on Sunday, which should more than make up for tonightโs failed effort. Onwards and upwardsโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช
06.02.2026 22:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0First time Iโve had to terminate a session halfway because it was way too hard at that moment. It would have been impossible to get anywhere near that target pace in the second round so I made the call to listen to my body insteadโฆ

Threshold turned out to be quite decent, and I was considered by the clinic to be in the โVery Fit Professional Athleteโ range. I will get my threshold retested closer to Manchester Marathon time to see how much Iโve improved, if anyโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช

Lactate Threshold Test
Treadmill run at the physio to officially test my lactate threshold! Starting at 7km/h and increasing by 2km/h every 3 minutes, with my blood tested for lactate levels at each interval. Finished on 15km/h with a little effort but still quite comfortableโฆ
Iโve got my lactate threshold test on Thursday so Iโm purposely keeping the week as quiet as possible running-wise - my next one isnโt until Friday, and itโs a Tempo 3km Repeat session, which I already know will be challenging.
But in the meantime, a few days rest for my legsโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช
