Oh its Max. Who would have guessed…

I have three and the most accurate way I can describe it is that of me being a tiny insignificant speck of a planet in the vast cosmos who happens to call a trinary star system home, where without my home stars, I would be a cold dead world with no direction.

The only in progress book at the moment is Book 8! The move slowed me down a bit but not by much.

Titans have a range of sizes, the smallest are usually 8 feet tall like Shadow but usually the upper max average height is about ten feet. They do not grow or change size beyond that and don’t change size with emotions. Sorry macros ;)

I’ve always been fascinated by the nature of duality and how that plays into our lives. As a psych major, DID (dissociative identity disorder was one of my favorite topics due to the implications it has for what we consider consciousness). I was also inspired by the Voyager episode “Ashes to Ashes”.

Like most people, they can vary some, but all are far beyond werewolves and easily fall into the superhuman power levels easily.

Max sees Draco Riley as his father figure and his mother figure is surprisingly not Molly O’Hara (they are more like very close friends). His mother figure is a woman named Cass from Max’s days in the homeless community when he was much younger than he is now. You’ll meet her in Book 8.

As for Max, due to his full generation mutation, an artificially introduced horizontal gene transfer like what happened to a system that doesn’t have it at all will have effects; it’ll be different. We’ve already seen some of them in his short story.

Max is struggling to learn that you can love more than one without replacing the other and can do so equally side by side. This is a concept many monogamous people find alien or clouded by jealousy. It takes a lot of work to love in an open honest way.

Can he? That’s the challenge…

No, Max will not turn into a Titan. This is due to his natural mutation that prevents him from taking a human form bricks the re-write of his DNA. It interferes with the horizontal gene transfer.

That said he will not escape the consequences of that and something is happening to him!

Star Trek, The X-Files, adventure stories, fantasy all of it was a big part of his life until that point. Now they are distant memories except for his love of Trek. Its quiet and understated but its there. He just keeps it to himself. Brian was the first person he’s started to loosen up around.

Present day gruff and quiet stand offish Max is nothing like his younger self. Before the incident that left him homeless and drifting across the US when he was 17, he was actually kind of a geeky nerd.

I have to do that sometimes with some stories and I always find something new! I revisit Pet Semetary at least once a year and The Shining for those reasons. Two of the best pieces of character work imaginable. Also, Pet Semetary is the one novel that still scares the hell out of me every DAMN TIME.

I'd love to hear your theories sometime! Sounds like fun!
