I've made the hard decision to back out of DragonCon this year.

I want to be clear that this has nothing to do with the convention, and everything to do with the cleptocratic, authoritarian and imperialist actions of the government.

As a Canadian, I'm refusing to travel to the US.

If all these rich men "regret" their time with Epstein then why didn't they announce prior to the release of the files that their names would be part of the collection? Why didn't they self-report? The answer is they are not sorry and have no regret. They are sorry and regret they got caught.

When millions of pages of Epstein Files still show no evidence whatsoever of transgender perpetrators, despite the Trump regime always being eager for any opportunity to demonise trans people, surely you've got to ask questions about who the real threats are. You spend all this time fighting against trans people, but we've done nothing wrong. Are you going to just ignore all of this and avoid asking yourselves these important questions? Are you just going to turn a blind eye to anything that casts doubt on your beliefs for fear of having to reevaluate them after investing so much time an energy into them so publicly? Are you scared of finding out you've been wrong this whole time? Or are you willing to think critically and prioritise facts over your ideology?

Millions of pages later and there's still not a single transgender perpetrator in the Epstein Files. There is a transgender victim. The only part of that that surprises me is that there aren't more transgender victims, but there's plenty more yet to be released so there could be others. But guess who was close with Jeffrey Epstein even after multiple convictions for child sex trafficking? JK Rowling that's who. JK Rowling is in the Epstein Files. Are you surprised? I'm not. Not even a little bit. People who care about victims of sexual abuse don't scapegoat minorities while maintaining close relationships with convicted perpetrators. When one of the most influential leaders of your movement is somebody like that, surely you've got to ask questions about what your movement actually represents, and who you are really protecting.
