Suggest to them that you participate to a game jam! That's a big commitment but only for a specific period of time so they might agree to it more easily.

Also, it's quite funny to go through code written 2 years ago. My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier!

I can't count the number of times, I've committed in a comment to make a suggested change and never done it. Today, I'd say it's never too late and also: all these changes makes the game more true to the vision we tried to achieve at the time.

None of the changes implemented in this version would alter your perception of the game compared to the 2022 version. It's just some Quality of Life update that would (hopefully) make the game more user-friendly.
