By stewarding this critical recreational trail, ARTA is connecting Adirondack Park residents and visitors to the Park’s communities and the public lands that surround them. We applaud this volunteer-driven stewardship and ARTA’s role in supporting an accessible, multi-use trail.

At yesterday's board meeting, we recognized Julia Goren, executive director of the Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA), for her organization's work to maintain the Adirondack Rail Trail as an accessible recreational asset under a volunteer stewardship agreement with @dec.ny.gov.

At the September Agency meeting, our Board recommended the approval of the proposed State Land Master Plan Amendments, authorized a solar facility, and heard informational presentations about the Adirondack Rail Trail and the Agency’s ongoing headquarters project. Learn more here: buff.ly/Aepqrj9

Arthur is an Adirondack 46er with international mountaineering experience. He credits his grandfather, who served as a NYS Forest Ranger, with instilling in him a strong sense of balance for sustainable development and environmental conservation.

This week's board member highlight is Arthur Lussi!

Arthur studied Environmental and Zoning Law at Syracuse University and worked on the Village of Lake Placid’s Comprehensive Plan during the 1990s. He was appointed to the APA board in 2006 and chairs the Enforcement and Legal Affairs committees.
