Four days later, that crowd – the trolls, the extreme MAGA loyalists, the far-right politicians, the regular people who proclaimed support for the police – again remains silent, except when they’re downplaying the vicious attack.

Two years later, again almost to the day, this violent felon was given a presidential pardon on Trump’s first day in office. "F*ck it: Release ‘em all,” an advisor recalls the President of the United States saying as he dismissed the rule of law and the will of the People.

Almost two years later to the day, a man was sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting Officer Sicknick.

They said the names of two others instead. The President, who’d lost a fair election & spurred a deluded mass to attack the Capitol, & the woman who was shot as she continued the assault against those standing their ground. Hallowed martyrs who gave to their cause, albeit in not quite equal measure.

There were no calls to say the name of Army veteran Brian Sicknick, the Capitol Police officer who died after the attack, nor any other blue defender of America. No thin blue line American flags were displayed in their honor.

On January 6, 2021, and in the weeks after, this crowd – the trolls, the extreme MAGA loyalists, the far-right politicians, the regular people who proclaimed support for the police – was silent when more than 100 police officers were attacked, beaten, sprayed, and terrorized.
