MAKE THE ROAD NEW YORK REPORTING ICE RAIDS With all the uncertainty around ICE raids, we need to ensure that we do not spread further fear within our communities, by spreading false information. It is crucial to only share raids that have been vetted by a trusted source. This allows for a faster community response and builds trusts. Follow these guidelines when reporting a raid: 1. Is it ICE? - Verify that it is actually ICE conducting a raid and not local law enforcement. ICE officers often carry vests that says "Police/ICE" or Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 2. Get all the details - What time? Where? How many officers? Was there an arrest? Things like badge numbers, license plates, etc. are very important. Always write down accurate and clear information. You can also legally film ICE or the police, as long as you do not interfere with an arrest. Save any video or photo evidence you have, this could potentially help someones case if any violations occured during an arrest. 3. Verify it - Do not share information on social media without first verifying if a raid actually occurred. Share any information you have with a trusted organization who can help verify it.
