It's crazy how much AI is like the your worst coworker.

Doesn't do their job right, steals your shit, isn't funny, and in the end you still have to redo all their work and for some god knows what reason your boss loves them and never fires them.

The myth around AI and productivity has always been a cover for work intensification and offshoring. "AI" is always just other people.

AI is the sequel to the the obsession by a select class of weirdo about bluechecks on Twitter, who were happy to fork over money to Elon Musk to gain this supposedly elite status only to discover that you can't find a technical solution for social esteem and status earned through achievement.

the USA built a system of higher education so good that smart/rich people from across the world came here, spending billions to learn here, subsidizing education for Americans while spending money to live in our cities and towns. our government arbitrarily decided we should stop doing that

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

The thing is, they *are* ashamed. I know this because I proposed a policy of radical transparency for my institution. You want to use it? Fine. But your output must be labeled as such. The outcry was ... intense

Starting to kind of feel like undergrads need to have at least three years of philosophy courses, psychology , and sociology courses before they're ever allowed to touch an "AI" system
