I am deeply grateful to the Journal of Experimental Biology for its fee-free open access option, which is essential for researchers with limited funding. Coming from Latin America and studying at a Latin American institution, this was crucial in helping my latest publication reach a wider audience. I would also like to thank the journal for its careful and detailed review process and for selecting my paper for the ECR Spotlight.
