I think the hair "tendril" is what's really messing it all up for me, it just looks really out of place with the rest of this design as it is. Maybe if it were shorter or not just haphazardly draped down the center of the silhouette?

Gotta be honest I think this is the first mega evolution design out of this game that I'm distinctly like "okay I don't think I like this". It's the "Gen 4 Pokemon Design" problem of overdesigning and then making everything look too busy.

If it's just "I don't like this character but I can't point to something specific and distinct about why I dislike them", I am gonna side-eye you hard, especially if the character in question has ANYTHING to do with an under-represented group both in-universe and out-of-universe.

EXACTLY. Like, it's not about criticizing the character per se, it's how *enthusiastically unspecific* you are about doing it. If you've got specific things you can call out about the character, then y'know, I can imagine you're being honest about your intentions there.

I don't think Wuk Lamat is immune to criticism as a result of her VA is trans, but I can definitely tell when you're legitimately criticizing her as a character vs. just hiding behind "criticism" to thinly veil your prejudices towards trans folks.

I've said it before but the fact that people railed so hard against lootboxes and then were perfectly fine letting Mihoyo normalize gachapon outside of the mobile game space still pisses me off to this day lmao.

I would eliminate gachapon as a model in its entirety and criminalize every company and executive that helped perpetuate it as the main free-to-play monetization model nowadays.

If you can't make your game without gachapon, it's not a legitimate game to me.

And I absolutely believe this wouldn't be the case if her English VA wasn't a trans woman, especially when Sena Bryer's professional skill gets unfairly called into question way more than I've seen *any* of the other VAs get.

My hot take on this is that people who complain about Wuk Lamat unprompted are simply subconsciously transphobic. The distinct vitriol this character gets completely unprompted when nobody is even talking about her brings to mind the way transphobes do this when we're not even the discussion subject
