They're being patient, not skipping steps, and amassing impressive depth of young, high character workers. I haven't been more optimistic as a Wizards fan in my life. It's a matter of when and not if with this franchise.

Winger, Dawkins, et all arrived in the spring of 2023. They continue to stack assets and find opportunities. Remember, they have an extra late first in 2026 that they got for cashing in 4 seconds that they had collected.

Gotta give Tommy Sheppard his due for stealing Porzingis from Dallas for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

Gallo's expiring deal came to DC in the June 2023 trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Boston (and ironically, Marcus Smart to MEM). Porzingis was set to become a free agent before the Wizards swung the deal. The Wizards got two more 2nd rounders in that deal.

They had Bagley's expiring money because last year (Jan 24) they acquired two seconds from Detroit as payment for taking on the final year of Bagley's contract. The Wizards sent out the expiring contract of Danilo Gallinari in the deal.

Just brilliant asset management by the Wizards resulting in them acquiring the #19 pick. They traded GSW's 25 2nd rounder and SAC's 28 2nd along with the expiring contracts of Marvin Bagley and Johnny Davis for the Grizz's 19 first and Marcus Smart's $21.6M next year.

There's a beautiful symmetry in Marvin Bagley aiding the Wizards quest for more draft capital.
