This year the Rural Obstetrics & Maternity Sustainability Program has expanded support for rural maternity and small surgical teams in BC. With a network of local coordinators and clinical leads now across all 32 funded sites, the team recently visited four communities.

βοΈSupports physician retention by avoiding back-to-back shifts so that physicians can get some much-needed rest
VERRaβs team of virtual Emergency Medicine physicians step in during hospital physician staffing shortages, and the team works with rural RNs to provide overnight coverage at small rural hospitals.β

The program helps in a number of ways:β
The RTVS VERRa team has now provided over 10,000 hours of hospital coverage to communities in BC. πβ

VERRa, which stands for Virtual Emergency Room Rural Assistance, has provided overnight hospital coverage to 16 rural hospitals in British Columbia.β
