I don't know why people are surprised at this. AI still doesn't get human proportions right, it's maybe too symmetrical in how it draws faces, it can't draw hands...so why does anyone think it's a good idea to let it perform surgery on actual living humans? None for me, thanks. I'll pass.

Little admin tip -- remember to change the address on your invoice templates after you move house/register at a new address.

Dropbox or Google drive are good options, at least so far. Anyway, Vimeo has always been slow streaming and was our least favorite place for screeners because a ten minute film could take 30 minutes to finish.

The online crackdown is ridiculous.

Vimeo now requires age verification to look at videos. AI looks at a selfie to decide if you're old enough, or you can show ID, lol. AI thinks I look much younger than my 55 years. If you send porn screeners to festivals, don't host on Vimeo if you want us to be able to watch them.

People ask for my socials and I joke that I only have a deeply neglected BlueSky account.

Except for the folks that stole the laurels from their film in '24 and put them on a new film for '25...and then had the audacity to submit to us as tho we'd accepted the new film with stolen laurels. I'm still waiting for an apology for that, and I'll be mad about it until we get one.

It makes me really happy to see our festival laurels on other people's films and posters, and not just because I came up with the design. I'm not really sure I can explain why. I always get a little burst of pride and feel all warm when it happens though.
