Anyone on the rich list charging us $10 for butter should be taxed more so that food banks aren't needed.

This community chooses 30km/h - Greater Auckland Meadowbank residents get creative to express the local preference for safer streets, after higher speed limits were imposed on the community.

Meadowbank, Auckland, residents have chosen safer speeds for their streets twice since 2021 โ€“ but Simeon Brown's Speed Rule forced faster traffic on them. So they started making their own signs ... www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2025/08/06/t...

The reality which status quo politicians will never acknowledge is that educating our kids requires *many different* styles of teaching, support and assessment, and with chatbot slop on top of that, we can only succeed through a *massive* increase of resourcing for teachers and schools

The first email to Mr Seymour is a rare insight into what donors expect for their money. This donor appears to be a low level wealthy - the $430,00 extra tax via Green tax policy that he complains about suggests an individual wealth in the region of $15 million if all this extra tax he/she fears is wealth tax. I expect the even more wealthy expect more for their donations.

Mr Seymour was big on the positive feedback he got about the meals. I asked for details and got sent a table setting out extracts from unknown sources. So I followed up asking for the source of each comment and the date it was made. Turns out that roughly 90% of the positive comments were provided by Compass and there was no information available on who made the comments provided or when they were made.

An insightful comment from Andrew Riddell -

TLDR: Seymour hid the tsunami of negative feedback on his school lunch program - and 90% of any "positive" comments he received was from Compass

Also his voters expect bang for buck from Seymour to ensure they don't have to pay taxes

If you like a character-driven police procedural series, do yourself a huge favour by checking our Peter Grainger's Norfolk based DC Smith Investigations and its spinoff KIngs Lake. Gildart Jackson's audiobook is perfection. I'm on third time around and I rarely repeat read.

There are business leaders NZers have broadly liked. Rob Fyfe, Stephen Tindall, Bruce Plested come to mind. The difference I think is they seemed to like us and values and to have general and cultural wellbeing in mind (whether or not this was true) . An absence of contempt for the average person.

Bringing back strict A-to-E pass/fail grades?

Brave move by a government whose own report card isnโ€™t looking so hot right now. #nzpol

Bishop canned 1500 new home builds.

Potaka threw people out of emergency housing onto the street.

Chhour slashed funding to community services.

All of us are struggling, services are slashed to bare bones, families already overcrowded.

What did these out-of-touch Ministers think would happen?!

Same boss told me I could tell a particularly nasty $50k client to get lost. "Tell him we only work with nice people". He was not a saint and also did some very hard things, but those moments stuck with me.

Many years ago I worked at a fish & chip shop that a senior National MP frequented - my first job as a teenager.

I got their order wrong once & they rang the owner to harangue them about it, so loudly I could hear them across the room.

The owner had tears in their eyes as they put the phone down.๐Ÿงต

I once made quite a n expensive mistake at work and my boss universally known as a tough boss said "You won't do that again, I consider it an investment". I stayed 5 years and made a LOT of money for that business.
