This is a decent estimate of the cuts in funding that will be coming down the road for the nation's top research universities. Why are we doing this?

Poll: Majorities say state of the union is not strong, and Trump is rushing change How Americans are reacting to the first month of the administration, according to an NPR/PBS News/Marist poll.

Each of us have to make the decisions that we feel are right. Please know that the majority of Americans are not onboard with the actions that our government is taking either. See this recent poll: www.npr.org/2025/03/03/n...

Cheating Has Become Normal Faculty members are overwhelmed, and the solutions aren’t clear.

I feel like this attitude is present at my university as well. At the same time, I don't feel that the use of AI to generate text is cheating, in and of itself. It's what a person does with that text that is important. www.chronicle.com/article/chea...

Trump Has Issued a Blitz of Executive Orders. Some Could Affect Higher Ed. The new administration’s clear opposition to DEI could prompt colleges to preemptively revisit their diversity offices and programs.

These actions run counter to much of what I've learned from reading American history...

No, Colleges Haven’t Rushed Back to Requiring Standardized Tests It’s one of four things revealed in federal data about admissions for the fall of 2023.

Originally, I read this short article to learn whether standardized testing is coming back in undergrad education (it isn't yet), but I came away wondering why yield rates have been going down (the percentage of students who enroll after being offered admission).

Here’s How Jimmy Carter Changed Higher Education Many of today’s policy debates and controversies had their origins in the president’s one term in office.

The biggest student-aid legacy of the Jimmy Carter era, by far, was a program that made middle-income students eligible for Pell Grants and opened up the subsidized-loan program to all students, regardless of need. chroni.cl/49UxwjV
