One of the reasons that I love actual plays so much is that it goes back to the very beginning of how people would entertain each other. Stand around a fire/food/table/etc. and all tell stories. It's just that "actual plays" do it within the bounds of a rule set. It's a wonderful thing.

Man, there's just way too many good ttrpgs out there. I wanna play/run ALL OF THEM. Looking at you Pendragon, Traveller, Wild Sea, Cosmere, and Blades in the Dark. I seriously spend WAY too much money on source books for games I'll probably never play. #noregrets

I think it would be fun to make a companion "podcast" in the vein of SERIAL that follows the operations of Delta Green agents or Call of Cthulhu investigators. Almost like found footage for an actual play.

Totally agree. I was running a 5e game where one of the players rolled up a gunslinger. He squeezed off a round inside of a small space with his entire party next to him. I essentially had them deafened for 1d4 rounds. It seemed appropriate.

The more I hear about Lancer the more I want to play it. I've never been a huge fan of Mech anime, but good lord this game sounds cool as hell. #lancer #ttrpg

It depends. As someone who primarily ingests APs as their main source of entertainment I can say it has to fit my mood. I'll go Dimension 20 for something polished and tight. If I want to hear more of a natural narrative with the "home game" feel I'll go with something like Glass Cannon's GITT.

I really didn't sign up to be a teacher so that I could fear that I'd be shot by a student at least once every three or so months. Having to lock myself in my office while I watch people search kids for a gun is such a weird feeling.

Absolutely! I think you should always establish what type of game your players actually want to play and a session 0 is a great chance to do that

If you're running a ttrpg (especially D&D) it might be a good idea to have your players help you flesh out the adventure. Ask them what something looks like, what their character thinks of something, etc. This will give you inspiration for how you can make the game more immersive for the table.

One of my favorite things in the world is when you're DMing for brand new players and at the beginning of the session it's kind of awkward and funny and weird and then three hours later the lvl 1 Wizard, Brad ThunderCa'K is trauma bonding with a random gnome npc barkeep.

After watching the High Rollers DnD game with the BG3 cast I can't help but think that I NEED NEIL NEWBON ON CRITICAL ROLE!!! He's so charismatic and he really leans into the game.
